 A legacy of fear 
There are people in Budapest who have lived through some of the worst events of recent years. The holocaust, life in the Soviet gulags, the brutal killings in the 1956 uprising. It is no wonder that many people still look over their shoulder and wonder how safe they really are.

With a gradual move to westernisation, Hungary held their first elections in 1990, and in 1999 they joined NATO. Becoming members of the European Union in 2004 and now under a right wing Prime Minister Victor Orban, Hungary faces new issues. Homelessness, migration, tourism and econmic growth.......
